The Hauraki Rail Trail is one of the easiest cycle trails in New Zealand, and as a Grade One cycle trail it’s suitable for all ages, fitness levels, and skills.  Hire bikes for the whole family and explore Paeroa township.  The abundance of antique shops make it a treasure hunter’s dream.

Look out for the 7 metre high 1.3 metre diameter giant Lemon & Paeroa bottle which stands pride of place by Ohinemuri Park.  Stop for a fun photo and join the commemorations of enduring love for this iconic Kiwi drink.

Paeroa to Te Aroha – 23 kms (2-3 hours)

Enjoy a leisurely ride through farmland to Te Aroha. The quaint township has some great walks and a series of sculptures functioning as bike racks and a drinking fountain. Reward your ride with a soak at the Te Aroha Mineral Spas and Swimzone. It’s ideal for tired muscles, and fun for the kids is guaranteed. Riders not wishing to return by shuttle to Paeroa can turn back at Tirohia or a little further at the Page Ahi Marae.
